Hello everyone! If you’re new here, my name is Maya Hardnett, and welcome to my new blog! I’ll be documenting the mural project I’ll be working on at this site for the next four months. It’s exciting for me to share this with you because this project is a part of something truly special to me. I’ll be updating you on my progress, sharing behind-the-scenes moments, and, of course, a few funny stories along the way.
If you’re curious about how I got here, I’d love to share a little bit of my story. It all started in 2020 when I was on Craigslist. I know—it was a bit of a risqué moment in my life! Fortunately, that’s where I met the perfect mentor for me, Ashley Bussy of Blue Woods Art LLC. He had been professionally working on mural projects for 25 years before I met him, and he completely changed my life.
Working with Ashley showed me that art could become another source of income—one that I could genuinely enjoy while also providing for myself. We worked incredibly well together, sometimes hitting three to five locations a day, painting windows and creating murals. What a time it was!
Fast-forward to 2026: instead of working odd jobs and pursuing my art on the side, I now work as a full-time artist, creating murals, commissions, and personal projects, as well as doing henna and face painting. It’s quite divine!
I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped me along my path, and I’m excited to share even more of that journey with you. Enjoy these little moments from my life as an artist!

This is what I call trusting the process… so at the moment of these pictures, I did an all-nighter. The paint sprayer didn’t work for me, so I had to roll It took longer than expected, but after these photos I decided to just blend everything with rollers and brushes because the paint sprayer IS DEAD TO ME! I will finish blending by the end of this month, July 31st. I’m challenging myself little by little—I’m reducing my media intake, including music and podcasts. I’ll have media days on and days off while working on the mural, preparing for full hermit mode coming August. Catch me on Aug 19th for my next post.
